PayPal payouts from survey apps: the fee, the currency, and why it is not instant
"Survey app PayPal" is one of the most common searches around reward apps, and PayPal is the option people trust most because it turns into cash. Here is how it works on Bonusboy, including the parts other apps describe vaguely.

The fee is 5% or $0.25, whichever is higher. We measured our provider's charge for PayPal payouts in October 2026 (about 4% plus $0.25 per transfer) and set the fee to cover it without adding a margin. Gift cards, Virtual Visa and Razer Gold cost us nothing extra, so they are free to you. If the provider's cost changes, the fee changes, and this page is updated.
The currency
Bonusboy balances are in US dollars everywhere. A PayPal payout is sent in dollars to your PayPal account. What happens next depends on your country:
In the United States the dollars arrive as dollars. Nothing is converted.
Which e-mail the money goes to
The PayPal e-mail is the e-mail you sign in to Bonusboy with. It cannot be changed to a different address. If your PayPal account uses another e-mail, add your sign-in e-mail to that PayPal account (PayPal allows several addresses per account), or choose a Virtual Visa instead.
Why "instant" is not possible
Many listings promise "instant PayPal cash-out". The transfer itself is fast; Bonusboy sends it within minutes of approval. What is not instant is the money becoming withdrawable: survey and game partners pay Bonusboy 1 to 5 months after your task, and we pay out only after that. An app that pays PayPal the same day you finish a survey is paying from somewhere else: new members' activity, a loan, or not at all once the money runs out. We prefer to be slow and solvent.
Checks that can delay a PayPal payout
Withdrawals above $20 and any with unusual history are reviewed by a person, usually within 1 to 3 business days. If a review fails, the money is returned to your balance with a reason.

How much is the PayPal fee?
5% of the amount or $0.25, whichever is higher. At $5 that is $0.25; at $10 it is $0.50. It is shown before you confirm and deducted from the amount you withdraw.
Why is there a fee for PayPal but not for gift cards?
Because our payout provider charges us for PayPal transfers and not for gift cards or Virtual Visa. We pass on the measured cost (about 4% plus $0.25) rounded to 5% without adding a margin.
Can I send the money to a different PayPal account?
No. The payout goes to the e-mail you sign in with. This protects you if someone gets into your account: they cannot redirect your balance.
